Helen is a Psychologist, she completed her degrees at Macquarie University and  Sydney University in 1988.  In the 90's she trained in psychotherapy at the Jansen Newman Institute, Sydney, which provided her with clinical experience across a broad range of therapeutic modalities including the Psycho dynamic approach, the client centred approach and Gestalt therapy. She also completed counselling training in sexual health and dysfunction with the Australasian College of Sexual Health Physicians, Sydney.  Helen gained a passion for somatic psychotherapy during a residential weekend workshop in Sydney where she experienced coming alive in her body for the first time. From this experience she went to complete one years training with the Australian College of Somatic Psychotherapy in Sydney in 2005 followed by training with the Australian Radix Training Institute in Melbourne in 2013.

Helen has worked in government and community departments for much of her twenty year career in counselling and psychotherapy. In 2010 she began a private practice.  Her specialties include depression, anxiety, alcohol and/or other drug issues, grief and loss, eating disorders,  relationship issues, sexual difficulties, parenting issues and workplace stress.   She provides an eclectic approach to therapy incorporating the body and mind. Her particular therapeutic focus includes assisting clients to stay in the present moment, gain greater contact with their emotional self, their bodies and their boundaries.  She highly values the rich authenticity that a body centred perspective can bring to an individual’s life and their relationships. 

In 2001 she left her home town of Sydney and headed to the tropical north, with her life and practice based in Darwin, Northern Territory. One of her greatest inspirations and joy at this time is spending time with her two young sons. She also enjoys walking on the beach and experiencing the magnificent  monsoonal storms and the eternal red orange sunsets of the Top End.
